About Amy McDow
I developed a passion for photography while still in high school, though it wasn’t until college that I received my first real SLR camera (thanks Dad!). About that time, I began experimenting with the graphics programs I had available. I loved taking snapshots of family and friends and even took a few classes in photography. However, when my children came along I really became dedicated to this field. With every new technique I learn, I get to better capture the beauty and personalities of my girls. I also have the priviledge of capturing moments in time for others. Most of my closest friends don’t even bother picking up their cameras at events anymore, knowing that I will catch all I can for everyone there I couldn’t imagine a higher compliment.

Beyond photography, I have worked in the field of graphic design. That term applies to so many things, it is hard to know where to begin. I started digital scrapbooking years ago, before I knew what it was called. The process just made sense to me, since I was so at home sitting in front of a computer. I started making gifts from photographs about the time I received my camera. Soon after, I began preparing invitations and announcements for various events, creating calendars and stationary for special presents, and designing publications for different businesses. Photo collages and the creation of logos has provided many exciting challenges for me and learning special effects on the computer has opened a lot of unusual projects to enjoy. With each new client or project, I like to surpass what I have accomplished before. That inner motivation has led to a lot of sleepless nights, but it has also provided me with results I can be proud of calling my own. The uniqueness and quality of my work is what draws the attention of most of my customers. Enjoying my work always seems to show through in the final product and that works out wonderfully for everyone involved in the process. I also like to dable in other art media, such as paper crafting, sculpting, sewing, pencil drawings, and writing. I find myself doing other projects the most with our homeschool. My days are stretched pretty thin, so when I get to play - I like to do so with my favorite two playmates (my girls). It would have been hard for me to not get involved with some form of art considering the talents of my parents. I may never reach their skill level, but I am definitely inspired by their work. You can look at their current projects at www.guinnillustrated.com. I am also blessed by my wonderful husband, Keith, a video artist. I can’t say enough about his collaboration and patience with me while working on various projects. I know that I would not be as dedicated to improving myself without his constant encouragement and support. Basically, I strive to continue improving myself and my skills, knowing that none of it would be possible without a wonderful support base of family and friends. Thank you!
